Mattresses from Home Treats UK

A new mattress is one of the most significant purchases homeowners make. Replacing your old mattress is key to getting a great night’s sleep for many years to come, and can have a transformational impact on your life. The best mattress for you can be determined by your sleeping position and sleep style, with some requiring a soft mattress and others needing something more firm. It’s a personal choice that can be informed by the amount of sleepers in the bed, the bed frame type needing a mattress and the filling material you prefer.

Mattress Types Available

You need to make a decision on what type of mattress you require. Do you want a pocket sprung mattress or a memory foam mattress? Both have their benefits, but which is best for you? You may also want to consider hybrid mattresses too. To help you decide, let us summarise the three options here at Home Treats UK.

Pocket Sprung Mattresses

This is a popular choice, comprising many small springs wrapped in their own pockets for excellent support and weight distribution. Each pocket of each individual spring is able to adapt, move and absorb any weight or movement, ensuring excellent durability alongside endless comfort. Pocket sprung mattresses from Home Treats are finished with a breathable cover and padded top layer to complete the package. Their medium firmness rating makes pocket sprung mattresses ideal for children, adults and pensioners alike.

Memory Foam Mattresses

Another hugely popular option is the memory foam mattress, developed in the late 21st century. Crafted from viscoelastic polyurethane foam which reacts to body heat to mould to the shape of the user, memory foam mattresses at Home Treats use a special grade of memory foam which wraps and holds position. Many sleepers with back pain or other injuries feel the real benefits of memory foam mattresses, but even the healthiest of people will enjoy the luxurious comfort they provide.

Hybrid Mattresses

A final option is a hybrid mattress, which combines multiple layers to attain the highest level of comfort and functionality for users. They comprise a pocket sprung base, combined with high-density foam and memory foam layers to ensure the highest amount of padding possible. Our hybrids provide a medium firmness, making them suitable for all sleepers out there.

Blow Up Mattresses

For guests staying over and camping trips away, we also offer blow up mattresses – an ideal solution to sleeping space problems. The inflatable mattresses we offer are a cut above your average, offering auto inflation thanks to an in-built pump. Internal columns ensure there’s no squashing and the mattress holds its shape, while the soft touch grip flocking and raised pillow edges bring these inflatable mattresses closer to a normal bed’s mattress than a regular temporary blow up bed solution.

How To Clean A Mattress

There are four key steps to cleaning a mattress, outlined below.

  1. Rotate or flip the mattress. Older mattresses can be flipped, but a lot of modern mattresses can only be rotated. Rotating or flipping is a good idea to ensure you don’t sleep in exactly the same spot for years, causing wear to certain areas.
  2. Vacuum the mattress. To remove any dust or other particles that have built up on the mattress over time, simply vacuum the mattress as you would a carpet. This is an easy and quick solution to getting rid of any unwanted dust.
  3. Remove any stains in the mattress. Over time, stains or marks may appear on a mattress. The best way to remove these is to use a solution of 50% water and 50% white vinegar. You should work the solution into the stains with a brush or cloth, repeating until the stains disappear. For tougher stains, sprinkle baking soda on the mattress, give it a minute and then hoover the soda away.
  4. Let the mattress dry and aerate. Once stains are removed, leave the mattress for a few hours, allowing it to fully dry and for some much needed ventilation. Mattresses don’t often get much air flow to them, so ventilating in this way helps with preventing odour build-up.

How Often Should You Change Your Mattress?

Mattresses can be a significant purchase, but they don’t last forever. A general rule of thumb is to get a new mattress every six to eight years in order to keep your bed fresh. Some signs that you may need to change to a new mattress include: waking up sore, visible signs of wear to the mattress, having trouble sleeping, feeling overly hot in bed and worsening of allergies.

Do You Need A Mattress Protector?

Mattress protectors do just what you’d imagine – they protect the mattress. You don’t necessarily need a mattress protector, but we would recommend one. They do a great job of preventing stains and other marks appearing on your actual mattress, potentially increasing its life span. Sleepers with allergies have also found it easier to sleep with a protector on their mattress.
